Maria Seuffert Hagan
A native of Rhode Island, Maria Hagan currently serves as Director of Music at the St. Paul Catholic Center in Bloomington, Indiana. In addition, Hagan is completing a Doctor of Music in
Choral Conducting at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. A rising choral conductor, Hagan was recently awarded with second place in the national graduate competition of the American Choral Directors Association, and was a conducting fellow at both the national Chorus America conference and Norfolk Conducting Institute.
Before moving to Indiana, Hagan was the Director of Choral Activities and an Assistant Professor of Music at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia. While in Georgia, Hagan served on the Georgia board of the American Choral Directors Association as the Repertoire and Standards Chair for 2-year colleges and on the Board of Directors for the Randolph County Arts Council.
Hagan completed a Master’s Degree in Sacred Music and Choral
Conducting at Emory University, where she studied conducting under Dr. Eric Nelson and voice with Mr. Bradley Howard. While in Atlanta, Hagan sang with the Emory University Concert Choir, Mastersingers, and University Chorus, as well as the Atlanta Sacred Chorale. While pursuing her degree, Hagan served as the Director of Children’s Choirs at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Decatur, Georgia.
Before coming to Atlanta, Hagan completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Sacred Music and Voice at Westminster Choir College, where she studied voice with Mrs. Margaret Cusack. While at Westminster, Hagan performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kimmel Center as a member of both the Symphonic Choir, under the direction of Dr. Joe Miller, and Williamson Voices, under the direction of Dr. James Jordan.
