Many thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make our Easter Vigil Mass and Reception such a wonderful, prayerful, and joyful celebration.  The hard working volunteerswho set and re-set the church and Altar of Repose for Holy Week and Easter, the many volunteers who generously brought in sweet and savory dishes for the reception, and the many quiet volunteers who helped tidy up the church and Higgins Hall between Masses made it all possible.

Thank you!

Sunday, October 24th
Happy Fall everyone!

I hope you all have been enjoying this beautiful weather and the fantastic leaves!  And just think, all of this beauty in nature is only a tiny fraction of an echo of God's beauty...

While you're pondering that, it is the perfect time for me to bring up the "Snapshots of God" PHOTO CONTEST that is still going on through St. Paul's.  The topic is "Where do you see God on Campus?"  Some quick facts:

* Turn in by Friday, November 5th in an 8x10 photo format to Father Stan's mailbox at St. Paul's (right before you enter the main church on the right, across from the bathrooms)
* Entries can be photographs from the past, and you do not have to have any particular expertise in photography
* The entry form is available at the campus ministry table in the gathering space of St. Paul's
* There will be prizes for the best photos, and a bunch of them will be displayed in the gathering space!

Any other questions can be directed to Desiree Cossyleon at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

HOLY HOUR this Wednesday will be at 8:00 as usual in the main church.  The topic this week is "We Can Vote GOD into Office," and we will be talking about Catholic voting and politics in honor of the upcoming midterm elections.  And again, don't forget that we know have a Holy hour BAND!  Come for some music, some scripture, some prayer, a talk, and socializing afterwards!

There will also be an interfaith Taize Prayer service TOMORROW night (Monday, October 25th) at St. Paul's.  The prayer service is at 6:30, followed by dinner :)

And two days later, join us on Tuesday evening, November 2nd for an All Souls' Day Prayer Service!  We will meet at 8:00 at Beck Chapel on campus and pray together for the dead in the cemetery...Yes, there will be candles.  No, you don't want to miss it.  (And did I mention that visiting a cemetery on All Souls can get you a plenary indulgence?!)

Finally, don't forget about the Musical St. Paul's is considering doing in the spring!...

We are considering producing the musical, “That You May Have Life” by Marty Haugen in April of 2010.  However, in order for this to happen, we need a production team!  We need:

· Director

· Costume designer

· Lighting designer

· Set designer

· Stage manager

Please email Jill Switzer Wolf, music director, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if interested.

That's all for now.  May the Lord bless you in everything you do, and please pray for us and our campus ministry!

Sincerely,
-Blake Sweet

9/1/10

Hey Everybody!  The Spiritual Committee here!  To all incoming freshmen and transfer students, welcome to IU!  And to all you returning folks, welcome back!  (Ok, I'm going to try to write a sentence without an exclamation point now...)  Now that you're here, let's get on the same page.  The Spiritual Committee of the Student Life Team is designed to put on events and activities through the Catholic Student Association (CSA) to bring YOU, the students, closer to God.  We have a wide variety of events going on throughout the year, including weekly holy hours, periodic adoration, prayer services, talks, musical performances, a student-run Stations of the Cross during Lent, and eucharistic processions around the IU campus!  Here are some upcoming event highlights:

Wednesday, September 1st:  First Holy Hour of the Year (come hungry because we'll be serving dinner at 6:30!)

Friday, September 17th - Saturday, September 18th:  Freshman Escape Retreat!  (reserve your space now for this powerful weekend!)

Monday, October 18th:  Talk from Matthew Kelly!  (famous Catholic speaker/author)

We are also trying to start up some small group bible studies/faith sharing groups on campus, so stay tuned for more information about that as well.  Basically we just want to do whatever we can to improve your spiritual life, because we're all trying to be saints right?  Right.  So check the website, like us on facebook, come to events, join us at CSA events, and help us build a community of faith!  Because when all is said and done, our relationship with the Lord is the ONLY thing that will do us any good.  AMEN!!!
