U.S. Catholic is a popular journal that has some wonderful surveys. This August’s issue probes how Catholics think about ourselves and what we, the faithful, believe is important. We know our warts. What about our best side. Here are some of the results of the survey of 282 respondents:
1. If I had not been born a Catholic, I would have chosen to be one.
Agree=57% Disagree=11% Other=32%
2. If I had children I would want to raise them as Catholics.

3. I think that someday all Christian churches will unite as one church.
Agree=31% Disagree=43% Other=26%
4. The Catholic faith is the only true faith.

Any surprised? Where do you find yourself on this survey? How would you complete questions #5 and #6 if they were open-ended sentences (fill in the blank)? I wonder what the St. Paul Catholic Center results would look like!
Here are a couple of aspects that I would add:
1. Catholicism is body & soul; it’s not just a head trip.
2. Catholicism has an intellectual tradition that I appreciate. We recognize how we use philosophy thinking and learning about the world as it is. Hence, Scripture and Tradition.
3. The dignity of the person and the hope of conversion go back to our Founder.
4. Catholics don’t shove faith down other’s throats. Deeds speak as loud as words.
5. Salvation is Christ’s to give, not our business.
