In the name of all of the faithful of St. Paul Catholic Center, I welcome you! We are a unique community: both a parish and a Newman Center. St Paul is properly called a university parish. Our primary mandate from the Archdiocese of Indianapolis is to serve as the Catholic presence to higher education; our mission is expressed at Indiana University. St. Paul has been doing this since 1968 when we first built a church facility on the present site. It has been home to numerous Hoosier students, faculty and staff, and resident parishioners of Bloomington.

As a home to Catholics we strive to achieve holiness and excellence in ministry through reverent and thoughtful liturgies, engaging education and formation, generous service to our neighbor, and fun social gatherings. You will find that St. Paul and our members are engaged in various activities at Indiana University and in the city of Bloomington. Thus, we witness to the transforming love and power of the Risen Lord. We also see the goodness of others in faith traditions different from ours. This is the pleasure and the work of a university parish.

St. Paul invites all members to exercise their God-given gifts in the parish through sharing time, talent and treasure. These gifts make St. Paul a dynamic parish home! For resident parishioners, it allows for the ongoing exercise of their faith, and their commitment to St. Paul. For university students, it is often your first opportunity to take on ministerial and leadership roles. All of our committees have positions for undergraduate and graduate student members. I have found that students make wonderful contributions to the life of the university parish. Please don t hesitate to inquire about how you can contribute to St. Paul. You will discover that you receive by giving.
