A homily for the 3rd Sunday of Easter
Readings Acts 2:14, 22-33 1 Peter 1:17-21 Luke 24:13-35 "I don't get much out of Mass." How many times have we (or someone we know) said this. The sentiment is common. In fact, some people simply never attend Mass because they believe (incorrectly) they can get more out of sleeping in, going for a run, having brunch than attending Mass and communing with the One True God. As frustrating as this might be, it is completely understandable. G.K. Chesterton once said, "The Mass is very long and tiresome unless one loves God." In other words, Jesus did not die and rise from the dead to make me feel good about going to Mass or receiving Communion, He did all of this so I could love Him and be and do good.
