The end of the school year and the beginning of summer can be a time of real flux and difficulty. Many of you will move to new cities to work in new jobs. Some will go home to be with friends and family. Others will take classes here. Whatever you are doing this summer, your schedule, your routine will change and it will be a challenge to continue to grow in your spiritual life.
My older brother played college soccer. A few days before he graduated from high school, a big envelope showed up at our house addressed to him. It was a summer fitness plan from his coach. He was expected to keep to this plan in order to show up ready to go when preseason began.
I am not a soccer coach, but I want to help everyone put their priorities in focus this summer and start the work of building up daily our union with Christ and the proclamation of His Kingdom. When you get back to Bloomington in August, I want you to be in great spiritual shape; I want you to set this campus on fire for Christ; I want you to commit to Christ and His Church this summer like never before.
